Reclaim the City

Boys play in the stairwell of an abandoned hospital in central Cape Town that has been occupied since 2017 by the Reclaim the City movement, a grassroots organisation fighting for housing equality in the city. The occupation of government-owned buildings  began as a protest movement, but has become far more than that, especially in the former Woodstock Hospital. Over the five years of its occupation, this derelict building has been brought back to life and is now home to a thriving community of over 1000 people united in their shared struggle for a fairer world..
