Reclaim the City
Boys play in the stairwell of an abandoned hospital in central Cape Town that has been occupied since 2017 by the Reclaim the City movement, a grassroots organisation fighting for housing equality in the city. Over the six years of the occupation, the roughly 1000 residents - refugees, evictees, activists and the homeless - have brought this derelict building back to life, filled it with colour, and, against all the odds, created a thriving and inclusive community in the midst of one of the world's most divided cities.
