The shallows

Fishermen cast their nets over shallow sandbanks in the calm, flat waters of Sierra Leone's Turtle Islands. The area's shallow banks have protected these seas against industrial trawlers, preserving marine life and enabling the islands' subsistence fishermen to continue their traditional way of life.
